CHARTER GROUP RELEASES FINAL REPORT LAHAINA, HI - The West Maui Charter Working Group has released its final report offering six proposals for amending the Maui County Charter during the upcoming Charter Review Commission. The six proposals include: council district voting, county manager type, executive branch, elected community boards, abolishing the liquor adjudication board, creating a county hearings officer office, establishing independent legal adviser to the council and boards/commissions. The report gives rationales and historical background for each proposal along with suggested language changes to the charter itself.
